Hi everyone! my name is Yoghini Kandasamy. I am born and raised Malaysian with a tamil, Sri Lankan heritage. I came to Victoria to pursue my undergraduate in a combined major of biology and psychology with a minor in education.

While growing up, I was naturally drawn to helping people out. I was introduced to volunteering within Malaysia while i was in school and i fell in love with the idea of being selfless and giving back to the community. I have volunteered in rural parts of Malaysia and other South East Asian Countries like Indonesia, India, Cambodia, and Japan. I love volunteering with children mostly where i teach english and art. I also have experience volunteering with Wildlife like elephants and monkeys in my time in Cambodia. Not only have i amplified my love for volunteering but traveling with a purpose.

Besides traveling, i also love practicing martial arts and self-defence. I have over 10 years of experience in Yoshinkan Aikido and have traveled to Japan with other international masters from United Kingdom, Australia, Russia and the Netherlands. It was such a beautiful journey that encompassed learning about different cultures, food, people and most importantly love languages.

I am very intrigued with the idea of emotional intelligence and want to pursue a career in it. I believe self-awareness is the center of change and growth. Below are some pictures of my time in Cambodia; working with children and building a classroom.
